I’ve done weddings and events for years and years but I just started photographing expectant parents and newborns about a year ago. If I had any idea how much fun it would be I would have started long before. The maternity sessions are a lot like weddings in that there’s a whole swirl of excitement and anticipation in the air. I’ve found maternity shoots to be very romantic too. I have yet to meet a dad-to-be that has complained about doing the session. They all just drop whatever they are doing and join in. That’s really the sweetest gift they can give. As for the newborn sessions, well that’s just pure playtime for me. It is such a joy for me to do the session (not always a joy for my blankets but that’s what woolite is for!). I’m so glad to be able to be a part of such a special time in a brand new family’s life. Really….this all may sound really hokey, but I’m as giddy about it as they are.
So Lisa found me from searching on-line (thank you google!) and we chatted on the phone a lot about what my sessions are like and what she was looking for. When I arrived at Lisa and Tony’s house, Lisa and I went over a bunch of outfits that she pulled out. Then I checked out the house to find all the potential photo locations. Once we got started, we just all totally lost track of time. We were having so much fun that we got really carried away. If you’re not sure you’d want a maternity session while being pregnant, take a look and see if you think Lisa and Tony are having a good time.
Teeny tiny stocking = adorable!!!!
Then we really started having some fun. How about a maternity version of American Gothic?
